Following the tremendous success of the 911 SC and Carrera 3.2 models through the 1980s, Porsche prepared for the most major update to the 911 yet with the release of the 964. However, just as production of the G-Series 911 was winding down, Porsche made sure to commemorate the 911’s 25th anniversary with a special limited-edition model. Based on the Carrera 3.2, the Anniversary editions were produced exclusively in Satin Black Metallic or Silver Metallic with a Silk Grey supple leather interior with special Black accents. Fuchs alloy wheels with body-color centers, a sunroof, and front/rear spoilers made it relatively easy to spot an anniversary model amongst standard cars.
A special leather-wrapped center console featuring an exterior temperature gauge, a limited-slip differential, and a shortened gear shift lever added to the exclusive feel. Only 300 coupes and 200 cabriolets were produced for the U.S. market, of which only 240 coupes were completed in Silver. While any Carrera 3.2 is a fantastic sports car, the Anniversary Editions add both exclusivity and extra comfort, cementing their status as a collectible. Their rarity, combined with the ever-increasing demand for air-cooled 911s, ensure these cars will remain in demand for the foreseeable future.
The stunning 1989 Porsche 911 Carrera 25th Anniversary Sunroof Coupe featured here is finished in gorgeous Silver Metallic over Silk Grey supple leather with black piping.
