Few Porsches evoke motorsport history quite as effectively as the ‘Slantnose’ (or ‘Flatnose’) 911 Turbos built between 1981 and 1989. Initially offered only as part of the ‘Sonderwunsch-Programm’ (special wishes program), the M505 package radically transformed the standard 930-generation 911 Turbo with a 935-inspired front end, wider rear flares, and large fender air intakes. By 1987, public interest was high enough for the company to officially add it to the order forms.
With a cost that nearly doubled the MSRP of the completed car, it is no wonder only 948 Turbos were so equipped (buyers could also specify a Carrera with the package). The high cost can be partially explained by how they were built at the factory – Porsche took fully built vehicles from the production line, dismantled them, and then re-assembled everything with the modifications in place. The result was not only breath-taking in appearance, but also functional, with M505-equipped 911 Turbos enjoying higher downforce and an increased top speed. With such low production and timeless styling, it is no wonder ‘slantnose’ Turbos are some of the most desirable examples of the vaunted 930.
This awe-inspiring 1988 Porsche 930 911 Turbo 3.3 ‘Slantnose’ Sunroof Coupe is finished in its original livery of Guards Red with matching Fuchs wheel centers over a bespoke, “Sonderwunsch” leather-to-sample interior in Can-Can Red and Black. An extraordinary example of Porsche’s bespoke craftsmanship, this incredible 911 Turbo boasts an array of exclusive, special-ordered options including the ultra-rare M505 ‘slantnose’ package, extensive leather-trimmed interior elements, a velour luggage compartment, and much more.
